"I understand, I understand," Dimitri said-- as if repeating it meant that he definitely understood. "Is perfect normal think for corpse in hospital to feel different than corpse in medical school. You must do good job for funeral purpose, I am knowink. Is not hard, I promise!"
He then laughed at Stefan's silly 'coy' act, poking the Intern right back. "You -- are tryink to trick me. No, no, no, do not try to trick me. This is my game, I try to trick you! Okay, okay. I see this is not vorkink. Alright. . .vhat iiiiiif. . .I tell you vhat to do and you do it? This is okay?"
As if Stefan had already said yes, Dimitri tugged the covering-sheet (looking a little bit like a magician pulling a table-cloth out from under a fully set table without stirring a dish) and folded it down neatly so that the body was exposed, but -- not exposed. Hey, Dimitri was a modest kind of guy. The Russian produced a tray that contained only two scalpels (one a bit bigger than the other) and a pair of shears. "Okay, okay. I already do the visual exam before you come because this is very borink and you are interest in the eh- cuttink him up. Okay! So you can skip the eh--" Dimitri gestured with both hands, tracing lines behind the corpses' ears (indicating incisions that could be made) "--you know? Go straight to . . ." Dimitri then traced the air above the corpse, drawing a Y-shape with the slanted lines coming down from each shoulder and then the vertical line going down along the chest and ending just past the navel.
With that, he grabbed the larger of the scalpels and held it out to Stefan as if he was offering a child a lollipop.
