Rare Moments of Relaxation

Natalie found a spot at an empty table outside in the cafeteria under the umbrella that was situation in the middle of the table. She had finally had a long break...well, the longest one she's had in the past few days. There were so many patients that she needed to see and so many things that needed to be done. Then again..this was a hospital, and she was a resident, so it was completely understandable.

She looked around, checking to see if she saw anyone that she knew, but when she didn't, she sat down, opened her book and began to eat her lunch, reading quietly.

Tiffany looked around the cafeteria for a place to take a quick break maybe meet a cute guy. She hadn't been very busy since she got to Seattle Grace and was very thankful for it, her last residency was at a very crazy hospital she barely remembers ever going home. She spotted a fellow resident who had seemed nice but she never got the chance to formally introduce herself. she walked over to the table

"Do you mind if i sit here?"

Natalie looked up when she heard a voice and smile, quickly swallowing the food that was in her mouth so she wouldn't be rude. "Of course not," she said motioning to the seat, as she put her book away. She had seen this doctor around, but never was formally introduced to her. It wasn't uncommon for that to happen, since there were so many doctors, and so little time to socialize with all of them.

"My name is Natalie Cooper," she introduced as she extended her hand to the woman. She usually didn't add the 'Doctor' part when she was wearing a lab coat and introducing herself to another doctor in the hospital...they would be able to figure that out on their own.

"Thanks"

Tiffany took the seat before her and placed her tray on table.

"I'm Tiffany Ba...... Tiffany (uncomfortable laugh)"
She was hasitent to say her last name, most people either want to kiss her butt or not talk to her at all when they find out that the nazi is actually her aunt.
"So are you new here? I am very new and it's a little nerve racking you know I mean I'm good but I just don't know about Seattle. I'm from New York I've only ever liked New York. And i'm going to shut up now."

Tiffany noticed that she was rambaling. She was hoping that Natalie hadn't lost interest or regreted giving her the seat.

"I'm sorry, I didn't catch your last name," Natalie said as polite as she could. She wasn't sure if Tiffany had intended it that way, but if Natalie just missed it, then she would have felt bad for not knowing it...if she had meant for Natalie not to hear it, well, then she just embarrassed herself for asking what it was when she didn't want to tell her.

She lightly laughed as she went on to say that she was new, and eventually told herself to shut up. "Its okay, really. I lived in Seattle for three years now. I started my residency here and intend to finish it, and have a permanent job here at Seattle Grace...hopefully; if things work out the way I planned. I Know what you mean about this place being overwhelming...any hospital is, and since Seattle Grace is such a large one, its hard to get used to things." She paused when she suddenly remember where Tiffany said she was from. "You're from New York? I am too," she said excitedly, thinking it was great to find a fellow New Yorker.

Tiffany had hoped that she wouldn't have noticed she didn't mention her name, she cleared her throat and said "Bailey, my last name is Bailey." she gave a nervous smile unsure of how she would react to the information.

Tiffany was always happy to meet a fellow new yorker to Tiffany there was nothing like being raised in the big apple.

"Yea i'm from New York. My dad moved me there when I was a baby. Small world huh. I'm not sure if I want to finish my residency here..... I hear Mercy West has an opening for new resident. I get boared easily thats why I like the medical field no two days are exactly alike and theres always some new surgery or medicine or illness being discovered.... it excites me to be apart of the whole thing, but i figure if this doesn't work out I can always follow my second dream, joining a rock band and touring the world." she laughs a little

Tiffany could tell right away Natalie was very easy to hang out with and talk to but she defintely was serious about her career.

Natalie now understood why she was reluctant to reveal her name...she was somehow related to Miranda Bailey. She smiled, not going to be one of those people she was sure existed who tried to constantly get on her good side (since it was probably a lot harder to get on Miranda's good side). "Oh really? Thats quite intereting! How are you two related?" She asked, hoping it wasn't too nosy of her to ask.

She the listened to her explain her situation here, and her previous one in New York. "Mercy West? Yes, I hear they are an excellent hospital. I was also considering doing my residency there, but this place just stood out to me. And I know what you mean. The unpredictability when being a doctor is what stood out to me as well. Everyday is unique....never a dull moment," she added, taking a bite of her sandwich. She then laughed as she said that her next dream was to be a rockstar.

"Hmmm..very ambitious of you! So you enjoy singing then, or playing a certain instrument? Or do you plan to learn before touring the world?"

"Well i'm her neice... I know I know i'm not exactly what you would expect but I was adopted by her brother almost immediatley after i was born, my birth mother dropped me off at a police station. If she would only have taken her husbands last name like most women do nobody would even have known we are related but hey what can you do." Tiffany smiled as she saw Natalie react, she was hoping that Natalie wouldn't be intimedated by the fact that she was a mini nazi and actually continue to talk to her. Tiffany could actually see this becoming a very good friendship.

Tiffany was use to people finding it funny that she wanted to be a rockstar..... she guessed it was funny a doctor....... a Surgen no less.

"Well no I can't sing.... or play an instrument but what true rockstar really can now and days. I can hold a note barely (begins to laugh lightly)"

Natalie nodded along as Tiffany explained her story. She felt bad that she couldn't get to know her real parents...it always saddened Natalie when she met someone who was deprived of meeting their biological parents, but at the same time, it was a good thing; a good thing that they would sometimes have a better life than their birth parents would be able to offer them. "Its great then...that you can work with someone you are so close to." She meant the fact that they were related, since she didn't know if they had a close relationship or not. "Doctor Bailey is a wonderful doctor...it seems to run in the family." Genetic or not, it just seemed to be the way they were brought up...sharing the same interest for medicine.

Natalie then chuckled as Tiffany continued to describe her dream of becoming a rock star. "Sounds like a good way to live. I'm sure with practice, you could become a wonderful singer...or, just find a good lead, and play your instrument along with a few others who have that same ability, and I'm sure your rock group will be met with success."

" Yeah I thik it will be great working with her, I know she won't give me any special treatment. Well the whole medicine thing i don't know if it runs in the family but it runs in me and miranda (she laughs)."

she listens to Natalie comment about her rock dreams.

"yea right well i'm very happy to live in the real world and leave that as a dream. so what about you? What is Natalie's backround?"
