Name: Dr. Dimitri Anton Karloff
Age: 43
Model: Peter Stormare
Personality: Odd. Just. . .the kind of guy you look at and immediately say “wow, he is odd.” Dimitri can be somewhat straightforward and he has a tendency to take certain things far too seriously (we call it “passionate.”) Though prone to fits of sarcasm from time to time, Dimitri does have good points, such as being cunning, intelligent, and fairly outgoing. He probably thinks he's better than you, but he’s not the kind to tell a person that to their face. All in all, he is definitely what you would call an “eccentric.”
Occupation: Coroner/Chief Medical Examiner.
History: Dimitri Karloff was never normal. No, not ever. First of all, he was born with neonatal jaundice, which was rather harmless, but made him look funny for a few days with temporarily yellowed skin due to higher-than-normal levels of bilirubin. Later on in life in his early primary schooling years, the differences between Dimitri and other people were more than skin deep. For example, while the other children were asking for hockey pucks or ice skates for Christmas, Dimitri was asking for white mice to feed chemicals to and cute little froggies to dissect.
The cherry atop the sundae of Dimitri’s odd existence, however, was almost certainly the day that he decided that his major in medical school was not going to be paediatrics, neurosurgery, or gynaecology, but rather in pathology: very basically – cutting up dead people to see what the heck happened to them. (Yes, he could also cut up living people to see what was wrong with them, but autopsies were definitely more interesting to Dimitri!) Of course, this occupation combined Dimitri’s love for medicine as well as his interest in ‘detective work,’ but it also had the bonus of hanging out with corpses all day. And in Dimitri’s opinion, you’d be crazy not to think that’s cool!
Of course, back in the day, Dimitri’s work was in the Soviet Union because that was, in fact, where he lived at the time (back before it broke apart and all that fun history stuff.) However, he has since moved to the States and taken up residence, which was probably the normalest thing Dimtri has ever done in his entire life, despite the fact that ‘normalest’ is not a real word. He now owns an apartment somewhere in town, but it is doubtful that anyone would actually ever want to go there and pay him a visit. In more recent history, Dimitri spends his days lurking in the morgue in Seattle Grace Hospital, talking to himself and to the deceased.
Extra things:
Has an Uncle named Alexei.
Teaches a pathology class on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at the University of Washington.
Likes: His job, Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie, cooking, sharing his opinion, kids, quiet time.
Dislikes: Morons, complex electronics, noise, ventriloquist dummies, disorganization, cephalopods.
