While Dimitri's assumptions about young blonde women was true, as Izzie did in fact own a cellphone, it would be of no use to them at the moment.
"It's in my purse in my locker" Izzie told him regretfully. If a cell phone ever went off when they were around Bailey, she was sure that she'd get suspended for it, or at least put on scut work for a month.
"All I have is the pager and unfortunately it doesnt allow anything to go outbound"

Dimitri smiled, but gave a slightly longer-than-normal blink, which was a tiny wince at the fact that Izzie did not have a cellphone with her. Of course, it would make sense that her phone would be in her purse in her locker and he should have been expecting to hear such a thing. But it still wasn't all that fun to hear.
No matter! It wasn't so bad. "Is okay! I am not havink cellphone vith me either. This only means ve vill have to vait for people to notice us missink. Me. . . I do not think people vill be noticink me gone until sometimes tomorrow or next day, maybe, unless somevone else dies tonight. -- Eh. . .I am hopink people vill know you are gone? Either this, or somevone vill become fed up vith vaitink on this elevator."

Hearing Dimitri explain how it wasnt likely anyone would notice his absence anytime soon was not what Izzi would call reassuring. She had hoped that he, being an attending, would be more likely to be missed, since she doubted that many people would seek her out either.
"Well...I'm pretty sure they'll know I'm not around when my work starts backing up..but I think they'll only care so much as it inconveniences them, not that they'd actualy come looking for me, or even send someone to look for me" Izzie told him. Besides, surgeons never looked for their interns, they just paged them, then got pissed if they werent instantaneously there. "Still, until the pager goes off, no one even is wanting me to be anywhere"

To be completely, honest, the reason that Dimitri assumed that Izzie might be more likely to be noticed when missing was due to the fact that she was a young, attractive, blonde female. Who wouldn't notice that missing? --The Coroner could imagine that a girl like Izzie would have all sorts of friends and family and people to meet up with and speak to who would certainly say 'hey, have you seen Izzie' when she wasn't in the immediate area. Then again, Dr. Karloff had an over-active imagination sometimes. In fact, he was also starting to think that maybe the corpses missed him, but it was a shame that they were locked up in freezers and unable to tell anyone that he wasn't there.
"Vell, elevator is used very often. Somevone vill be noticink it does not vork, and that vill solve problem," he replied with a certain sort of tone in his voice. Without much of a pause, he added, "--Is too bad I do not have board game vith me. You like Backgammon? Next time this happens, I remember to brink it, okay?"

Izzie had started to wonder who in the hospital might notice she was gone. Her first thought was George. But if Callie had anything to do with it George wouldnt even be remembering Izzie existed. There was Meredith but she was always wrapped up in some McDrama with McDreamy. Christina wouldnt look for her unless she had a surgery she had wanted and Alex...well Alex was Alex. The thought that the elevator would be missed before she was, it was a quite depressing thought actually, and she let out a light sigh looking down for a minute.
When she heard Dimitri mention about Backgammon she smiled looking over, appreciating his effort to keep things unstressful despite their being stuck here. "I've never played before, but maybe if we ever get stuck again you can show me how"

Dimitri heard Izzie's sigh and noted the sad look on her face. Apparently, he had said something wrong and upset her. Dr. Karloff had a way of sometimes not caring whether or not he upset people, but this was not one of those times. As far as he could tell, Izzie was a nice person and she did not deserve to look so depressed. Thinking that it would cheer her up, Dimitri put his arm around the girl's shoulders and pulled her next to him in a half-hug kind of way. He was a very touchy Russian and never seemed to think that perhaps other people didn't want him to be touching them.
Continuing right along, Dimitri said, "Is not very hard game to learn, but is very difficult to explain vithout board and pieces right here. Is kind of like checkers. --You are likink checkers? I brink this too next time! Ve vill have many board games next time elevator dies!"
Looking off to the gurney, Dimitri askd, "--You are likink checkers too, Mr. Overbeck?" Yes, Dimitri was talking to a corpse.

Izzie's eyes had been looking down towards the floor so she certainly didnt realize that Dimitri was moving over next to her until she felt his arm around her. She didnt know what to do at first so she froze, wondering what he was doing. Was he hitting on her? Was he about to try something, while they were stuck in this elevator? She had no place to go, and she was pretty sure she could scream and no one would hear her through the thick walls. Her heart started beating faster wondering if she'd soon be fighting off this man. But she noticed him pulling her into a side hug. He seemed to be comforting her, not trying to put the moves on her. Now she was actually realizing it might be a sweet gesture and not a creepy one, so she didnt try to get away from him.
"Yeah, I like checkers...a board game would be fun right now, but hopefully this is the only time we get stuck in an elevator" Izzie told him, not meaning any offense to the older doctor. When Dimitri started talking to the dead body Izzie was creeped out. She realized she was even more creeped out by this than when she had thought he was going to try to rape her in here. Was this man insane and talking to dead people? Or was he just joking around. She didnt respond and waited to see if he'd have a conversation with the body.

Dimitri had no idea how lucky he was that Izzie was not a 'kick a guy in the groin' or 'file a sexual harassment suit' kind-of-girl. He was, rather honestly, completely, blissfully unaware that he might have found himself in such sort of trouble for merely hugging a sad-looking woman trapped with him in an elevator. Then again, to be fair, Izzie was lucky that Dimitri was an innocent, 'hug a sad-looking woman trapped in an elevator' kind-of-guy rather than the 'take advantage of the woman trapped in the elevator' type. Yes, he was the creepy coroner, but no, he was not that kind of creep!
"Checkers is very good game," Dimitri said, speaking to Izzie once more instead of the corpse. He did not seem to notice her discomfort at the notion of speaking to the dead, but there would likely be time for that later. "Vhat, you are not likink elevator? I am thinkink this is very much good place to be stuck, really. I am rather be stuck in elevator than stuck in. . .eh. . .oven. . .eh. . .or ah-- undervater. These vould be horrible places to be stuck! Here, ve do not drown or cook to death and is very good for us, yes?"

Izzie was relieved with Dimitri began speaking to her again instead of the dead body, but she was a little freaked out by how easily he could transition from conversations with the dead to those with the living. She wondered if he even realized that the people on those tables couldnt hear him anymore.
"Yes I guess you're right there are worst places a person could be stuck" She agreed with him, though she was a little confused by the idea of a person getting stuck in an oven...how would a person get in an oven? But she knew if it was possible she'd probably see a patient who had gotten stuck in an oven eventually. "I just dont like being trapped....anywhere"
