Dr. Isobel Stevens took a few steps down the quiet hallway, blowing lightly on her cup of coffee. She reached the gurney's against the wall and sat down on one, moving back on it to bring her legs up with her as she took her first break of the day. As she took a sip from the cup she winced slightly as it was still hot. Closing her eyes she began rolling her head from side to side to relieve some of the tension in her neck when she heard the footsteps of someone else coming this way. Opening her eyes she looked up, ready to move if it was an emergent case that had just come in.

George was already ripping open the bar he got from the vending machine as he made his way to the one place in the hospital where he could find some peace, but not fall asleep in case he was paged. He saw that Izzie, and only Izzie was there so was thankful it wasn't busy as it sometimes was.
"That is the last time I ever let Alex trick me into taking one of his patients who has diarrhea!" He exclaimed angrily, sitting down next to Izzie on the bed as as he took a big bite of his energy bar and slumped down so that his posture looked poor and his feet were dangling off the edge of his bed
"Want some?" He asked with his mouth full, as he offered it to her. "Its a wonder I'm still hungry after that experience!"

Izzie smiled as she saw it was George who was coming. She merely grinned to keep from laughing as he mentioned taking a patient from Alex. Poor George, always the nice guy in him getting him in trouble.
"I learned long ago never agree to any favors for Alex without being sure you know what you're agreeing to" Izzie told him.
She looked at the power bar as he offered it to her, she was hungry. "Mmm, thanks" She said reaching over and breaking off a piece before popping it into her mouth. "I'm pretty sure there's nothing left here that could make me lose my appetite" She told him holding her hand in front of her mouth as she talked/chewed.

George nodded in agreement with her statement about not agreeing to any favors from Alex . "He somehow always manages to trick me into it! One day...I'm going to say no...I'm going to say 'Alex! Handle your own patients with problems like that; be a man!'" He pointed his bar forward, as if pointing it to Alex for extra emphasis. Of course this was what George wanted to do, but he had only had the guts a few times in his life to stand up to people...Alex couldn't be that hard...he shouldn't be.
He looked at the bar after she broke off a piece, and made a face. For some reason, just talking about it made him lose his appetite. "Here," he said handing it to her. "You're probably a lot more hungry than I am." He was going to have to get used to this sort of thing...dealing with patients with these kinds of conditions.
"I guess I have a weak stomach. But I swear I've never seen that much poop in my life!" Poop? Had he just said that? Not a proper medical term to use, but it was only Izzie, and he felt comfortable around her to say whatever he wanted to.

Dr. Torres made her way down the hallway, looking for her husband was becoming a sport and everytime she did find him he was with Izzie Stevens (this time was no different). Even the thought of Izzie's name made Callie's gag reflex kick into high gear but actually seeing her smiling and laughing with her husband was something much worse. she walked into the room and noticed that just her pressence alone made all conversations stop. " (clears her throat) George I need you in the clinic now."

Izzie gratefully took the rest of the bar from George with a shrug as he said he wasnt hungry anymore. She made a mental note to back him something for tomorrow when he'd hopefully have an appetite. "Thanks" She said taking another bite, laughin lightly as he mentioned all the poop. She definitely didnt envy him at the moment.
She looked up hearing Callie's voice and gave her a polite smile, forcing herself to be polite. She had promised George (and herself) that she would give Callie a chance. It was important to George that they got along, so she'd be nice.

He looked up when he heard a familiar voice. It was of course, his wife Callie Torres. He glanced at Izzie before looking back at her; he hated this. Two women he cared not getting along. He had tried to distance himself from both of them, but both attempts failed.
"T-The clinic?" He stammered, not afraid of going or anything, but he just didn't like the awkward situation. "I'm not on break long, and then I have to make rounds or Bailey is going to kill me!" He hoped she wouldn't get angry by his objection to leave...it was after all the truth. "But...do you need me for something there?" He asked, just to check if she actually needed an intern.

Callie really didn't need george in the clinic just her despret attempt at keeping george from Izzie, she hated when she would act like this. She kept telling herself this is work, your career, your life don't risk it for anything even if it is your husband. She didn't know what to say in response to George's question.
" Rounds.. right..... forget it.... I'll handle....... see you for lunch ok (looks over at Izzie) Stevens"
She walked back down the hallway trying to put her mind back on her job and off of the cozy picture that was behind her. Her husband who she loved with all her heart and Dr. Stevens who was a huge part of George's life and she had to accept that and try to make nice. Her and George had been through too much to crawl into a corner with her tail between her legs. NO she had to fight with everything she had but who was she fighting with.......STEVENS!!!

Izzie watched Callie walk away. She didnt have to be a mind reader to know that Callie hated that she was talking to George. But she had known George longer than Callie, they were best friends. Izzie wasnt about to stop being friends with George. She couldnt lose him.
Izzie looked down at the half eaten power bar, she was about to make a remark about Callie's attitude but when she looked over at George, she knew she couldn't do that to him. "How are things going with you two?" She asked.

He sighed as he watched her walk away...he was going to have to fix that later. It seemed that every day, there was some problem between the two of them; well, the same problem, even though it was a different issue of that one major problem. It wasn't one that he could easily fix either.
He looked at Izzie after she asked how things were going and lightly shrugged. "I guess..they could be better..." Callie would probably kill him if he told Izzie that things weren't too great between them, but he couldn't lie to his best friend. "We just seem to be fighting a lot...a lot a lot! And I mean...we're still together, so its not like we're miserable, but I just wish that every night didn't have to consist of bickering...not that every night we fight, because there are some nights we don't...but a lot of the nights we do." He stopped, once again trying to avoid rambling. At least now, he wasn't thinking about his last patient anymore, but he still felt nauseous about this new problem (or same problem) he had.

Izzie nodded as she listened to George talk about the problems, the bickering, that was going on with him and Callie. While she wanted to show him that there was a reason for this fighting, she knew he needed a supportive friend. She'd be that for him, so she listened patiently. "A lot of couples fight in the beginning, you're still working things out" She said trying to be supportive for him. She was thinking of something else to say when Bailey came in. She sat up straighter. "Just waiting on some labs Dr. Bailey" She said.

George looked at her as she assured him that this happened with a lot of couples. "I guess..I just never expected it to happen with Callie...well, I mean, I guess I sort of did..but not really." He wasn't sure what he was trying to say anymore; he knew that he had rushed the marriage, and that not many people were happy about it when he told them. But he did love her...he just hoped things got better. "Thanks," he said but before he could say anything else, Miranda Bailey came and told them to get back to work.
"I'm taking a break...um...I can take one, since I just finished with another patient..well..patients, more than one." He wished he had a better reason, but this was only a short break...however, even the shortest ones were the most relaxing. Breaks were a blessing and he was going to take advantage of whenever he could get a chance to sit down and relax.

Izzie assumed that hers and George's explanations of why they were just sitting there was sufficient when she didnt hear any further protests from Bailey about them needing to get back to work. There was only so much they could do. And she knew George deserved a break, even Bailey would be able to see that.
"Take a break while you can, the board wasnt too busy when I was there"

George breathed a sigh of relief as Izzie said he could take a break, because it wasn't too busy today. He smiled at her appreciatively. There were a lot of things that scared him...but Miranda Bailey was probably the most terrifying. Then again, she had softened a little after she had her baby, so things weren't as bad.
"I guess its obvious that its not that busy since both of us are sitting here, and haven't been paged yet," he added, continuing on with stating the proof that today was a more...relaxing day (minus the diarrhea issue).
