"My accent is comink from Russia. My shirt is comink from Kohls," Dimitri said, as if suggesting that perhaps the feline might have had a foreknown preference for either Russians or shirts from Kohls. It was a lightish-grayish dress-shirt, which Dr. Karloff had worn with a necktie that he had removed during his walk home and tucked into his coat pocket.
In response to her thank you and offer to come over any time, Dr. Karloff replied, "You are very velcome and is no problem! --Eh? Mitri? You are givink to me a nickname? Aha ha ha." Poor Nidia might regret inviting the Coroner to come over again in the future. Oh, she might regret it deeply.
"I am not needink bribes or compensation. No, not for now! Maybe later, okay? I put you down now, Lector," Dimitri finished by kissing the kitty on the top of the head and then slowly prying the furry paws away from his shirt and relocating them to the couch-cushion. "Okay, I am ready for goink! Aaaaaaafter you!"

"So you are Russian then. Very nice country I hear... Very large." Yeah it was clear that Nidia was being nice. She did not know all that about Russia except for what is recorded in the history books. She made no comment about his shirt, decided to let that one alone and just try and cover her backside about the Mitri thing.
"Only if that is okay with you. If you would prefer me to call you Dimitri or Karloff then I will stick to one or the other." She smiles at him, watches his interactment with the cat and then when he had said after her she nodded and moved around him to the opened door. After walking out she started to wonder if everyone would be okay while she went down for a few things. This was a risk she was going to talk.
Lector had been reluctant to let Dimitri go. He liked the man but decided to just jump on him again whenever he came back around. The ball of black fluff gingery pawed at the couch cushion before laying down. Lector was not comfy again.

"Yes! I am from Russia. You vere not knowink this? Is okay! Now you do! --You know vhat they say about people from big countries, eh? --No vait, that is shoes, not countries. I am gettink these vords confused sometimes," Dimitri said, being rather silly. Sometimes he had bouts of uncontrollable sillyness that simply could not be subdued.
On the topic of nicknames and whether or not it was permissible to call Dimitri something other than Dimitri, the Russian laughed and replied, "Is okay to be givink me nickname as lonk as you do not call me Boris or somethink mean. Okay? Is deal! --I have nickname before and I do not mind. Is very nice!"
Dr. Karloff was reluctant to leave the cat, but he knew that he could always see the furry beast later. As he followed behind Nidia, he decided to ask, "so vhy are you movink to a place to close to me? You are spyink on me, maybe?" Of course, he was joking. . .but he didn't say it like a joke.

When Nidia heard his little joke about country's she had to laugh. She knew where that was going when he said it was about shoes and not country's. Still she could not resist saying something about it. So with a laugh she adds, "Shoes or country's, it does not make a lick of difference."
Then it was time to move on to the subject of nicknames once more. Is it not amazing how three or four subjects could come around in one conversation alone? "Boris? I don't get that but okay. The way I see it is nicknames should only be given when you like someone or there names are just too long, you know?"
Then once more the topic changed to why she moved close to him. She was hoping he was joking, he could not passably think that she was trying to spy on him. She chuckled a little as she made her way down the hall and pass the doors of the other residents. "Ah no, no. Nothing like that. I just got kicked out of my old place for being late with the rent due to my work schedule and when I checked this place out I found it was close to work and it was a little more lenient."

Dimitri was very proud of himself when he got a laugh from Nidia. Likewise, he smirked at her words, which seemed to be a bit of a tricky compliment. Tricky or not, a compliment is a compliment. Either that, or she was just being very factual. After all, neither shoe-size nor country-size really had to do with. . .what they were talking about. "Yes, yes. You are very right, I am thinkink. And so is okay that I am mixink up vords. Hurray!"
On the subject of the despised nickname Boris, Dimitri decided to quickly explain. "Boris is name of popular character from Rocky and Bullvinkle cartoon. --Also, Boris Karloff is name of famous old movie actor who plays Frankenstein. I do not like to be called this."
As they continued along and spoke on the subject of the location of the apartment, Dimitri added, "Yes, is very close to vork. This is vhy I am livink here. -- You must remember to pay rent on time so you do not have to do this again, you know?"

Nidia maintained that amused look as they continued out the apartment building. If he thought that was a victory on his part then she was going to let him have that one. One the subject of nicknames she thought about what he said. "Oh yes. I remember Boris. He was the short bad guy he dressed in black and looked like the Hi'ce drink character right?" She did not seem very enthused or amused by this thought. That cartoon had always annoyed her.
"As for the actor. I think I recall reading something about him once. I can also see why you don't like that name. I'm sure you have been teased enough with it. Don't worry, I wont do that."Nidia did laugh a little when he told her to remember to pay her rent. She nodded her head, "Yes. Yes. I am running out of places to look for new homes. I am going to be sure to keep this one for as long as I can."
