Dimitri shrugged. "Meh, vhat vould I know? I am just Medical Examiner. Okay! Out the door," he announced, narrating as they got through the doorway.
"Aaand to elevator," he continued. Apparently, Dr. Karloff liked to say what he was doing as he did it. It was a strange habit for a man who usually didn't have living company. Though, Dimitri probably still continued to do it even when he was by himself.
"So vhat you do after this? You go for lunch?" Dimitri asked in a tone of casual politeness.

"If her family dose not want to speak with me then yes. I plan to make sure they have any lingering questions answered before they have to wait to long." Derek answered as they waited in the elevator. He wondered if the Russian was going to invite him self or if (out of politeness) would be forced to invite the man. "You?"

"Yes, is alvays very important to make sure that family is not havink any qvuestions," Dimitri replied, as if he knew what he was talking about. Of course, Medical Examiners also had to answer questions from family members, but usually not to the extent that a 'living-people doctor' would. In most cases, Dr. Karloff did not have to speak with any breathing people. He could just list a cause of death on a piece of paper and pass it on to someone else to deal with.
"Eh? I am havink vork to do, you know? But it can vait for after lunch! Morgue does very good job keepink body safe for me. Maybe you are likink to go vith me for food?" Dimitri did not seem to think that it was morbid to talk about food while wheeling a decently-deceased person to the morgue. But that was Dimitri for you.

Derek knew there was no way out. "Let me go talk talk to the family and I can join you in about 20 minutes." Derek helped the name get the woman to her new home then went to help the family. They cried and Derek felt worse. he then went back to meet Dimitri for lunch, almost 10 minutes late.
"Sorry, I had to make sure they understood everything."

Dimitri was very grateful for the help. During the twenty minutes' time when Derek was off talking to the family, Dr. Karloff filled out the papers and gave Mrs. Haversham a toe-tag and a freezer to hang out in until the funeral home came to collect her. An autopsy would not be necessary unless the family requested it. For now, the 'cause of death' was listed as 'heart failure during surgery.'
Dimitri used some cleaners and hot water to wash up the area of the morgue where the body had just been and then proceeded to wash himself up in some incredibly hot water and lots of soap. That done, he paged someone else to come collect the gurney (making a mental note to mop the floor when he returned after lunch), and went to hop in the elevator to meet with Derek.
He thought he would go crazy in the ten minutes it took for Dr. Shepherd to show up late. In fact, passersby probably thought he was crazy, the way he was bouncing in his heels, drumming the side of his leg with his fingertips, and talking to himself in Russian. When Derek arrived, Dimitri wore a broad smile and slapped both of his hands onto the sides of Derek's shoulders, "Is okay, my friend! Is very hard vork, I am understandink. Okay, you need lunch! I can see!"
